It shall be the duty of the governing body of the consolidated district to cause an annual tax levy to be made, at the same time other taxes are levied, on the lands of the former Missouri district in keeping with the original tax levy made on the lands of such district in order to provide funds for the payment of maturing bonds and interest. If the original levy so made by the Missouri district and spread on the tax rolls of the proper county or counties in Kansas shall not be sufficient to pay all of such bonds and interest as the same mature, it shall be the duty of the governing body of the Kansas district to make such additional levy or levies on the benefited lands formerly in the Missouri district, in proportion to the benefits originally assessed thereon, as may be required for the prompt payment of such bonds and interest. Under no circumstances shall the security or payment of the Missouri bonds or interest be impaired by the failure of the governing body of the Kansas district to provide annual tax levies in order to provide funds for the payment of such bonds and interest. All payments of such bonds and interest shall be made through the banking house or trust company designated in said bonds.
