Not later than January 1, 2000, the State Building Inspector and the State Fire Marshal, in conjunction with the Codes and Standards Committee, shall make amendments to the State Building Code 1 and the Fire Safety Code 2 concerning bed and breakfast establishments. Such amendments shall: (1) Be adopted in accordance with the provisions of sections 29-252b and 29-292a; (2) define the term “bed and breakfast”; and (3) be designed to preserve the unique character of such establishments, contain the cost of conversion of a home to such an establishment and support the tourism industry in the state, provided such amendments shall not affect the safe design, use or construction of such establishments.
