(a) The board may invest, reinvest, and direct the investment of money accumulated in the fund.
(b) Money appropriated by the legislature to the fund shall be deposited in this fund. Gifts or grants from the United States government, local or regional governments, private sources, or other sources may be deposited in this fund.
(c) Money appropriated to the fund by the legislature for a specific purpose stated in Subchapter C, E, F, M, N, O, or P of this chapter 1 shall be placed in the appropriate fund or account created by that subchapter.
(d) The money held in the fund may be invested as provided by law for investment of money under Section 404.024, Government Code.
