This act shall take effect as follows:
(1) For the purposes of determining if applicants have satisfactorily completed the approved graduate medical training required for eligibility to receive a license without restriction, applicants who are participating in a residency program on or before June 30, 1987, shall be subject to the provisions of the act of July 20, 1974 (P.L. 551, No. 190), 1 known as the Medical Practice Act of 1974.
(2) This act shall take effect January 1, 1986, or immediately, whichever is later.
