Pennsylvania Statutes Title 53 P.S. Municipal and Quasi-Municipal Corporations § 66536. Cemeteries

(a) The board of supervisors may by ordinance make rules and regulations regarding the location, operation and maintenance of cemeteries in the township.

(b) When any cemetery or burial ground is abandoned or is being neglected, the board of supervisors may give notice to the owner directing the removal of weeds, refuse and debris from the cemetery within thirty days.  If the removal is not completed within thirty days after the notice, the board of supervisors shall provide for the removal to be done by employes of the township or persons hired for that purpose at the expense of the township.  All costs of removal shall be assessed against the owner of the cemetery, if known, and collected under section 3302(b). 1

(c) The cemetery shall remain open to the public under the regulation and control of the board of supervisors.
