The clerks of the several markets within this province, now in office, and all such clerks as shall hereafter be appointed, before they enter upon the execution of their office, shall take the following oath or affirmation, before some magistrate or justice of the city, borough or county wherein they shall reside, viz: “That he will well and truly, to the best of his skill and judgment, do and perform all things enjoined and required of him as clerk of the market, by the laws of this province.”
