The duty imposed of making salary deductions as aforesaid shall extend to any premiums or other charges due under the aforesaid contracts, whether made by such officers or employes directly as members of a group, or made on behalf of such officers or employes by the Commonwealth or its departments, boards, commissions and agencies, or by any political subdivision thereof, and the deductions required to be made as aforesaid shall be paid directly by the officer or officers making such deductions to the association or corporation entitled thereto under the contract or contracts involved.
