It shall be the duty of the trustees to appoint a certain time and place for receiving the proofs of the creditors, in support of their respective claims, of which public notice shall be given, and on the day so appointed they shall proceed to receive the proof of the several creditors, and shall determine upon the same, and having stated their accounts, and ascertained the proportionate sum payable so each creditor, shall file their report of the same in the office of the prothonotary of the court in which their appointment took place.
