The sheriff of the county of Dutchess is hereby authorized to designate such number of deputy sheriffs as shall be authorized by resolution of the board of supervisors of such county, who shall act as attendants at all terms of the supreme court, county court, surrogate's court, and family court held in such county, and who shall perform any and all other duties required of or imposed upon them by law or by such sheriff. Such deputies shall receive such compensation as may be fixed and determined by the board of supervisors of such county.
