Every constable within ten days after his appointment shall appear before the prefect and enter into bond to the territory with good securities for not less than four hundred dollars, nor more than four thousand dollars, conditioned that he will execute all process to him directed and delivered, and pay over all money by him collected by virtue of his office, and discharge all the duties of constable according to law, which bond shall be approved by the prefect, and filed in the office of his clerk.
