New Jersey Statutes Title 43. Pensions and Retirement and Unemployment Compensation 43 § 9A-5

Provision for all pensions arising under this act  1 shall be made in the appropriation or tax levy of the county in which such person is employed at the time of retirement; provided, however, that the county so paying such pension shall be entitled to reimbursement by the municipality in which such person was previously employed in proportion to the years of service for which prior service credit has been allowed. The treasurer of the county shall annually ascertain the proportionate share due on account of such pension from each municipality in which such person was previously employed, and shall submit to such municipality a statement of the amount necessary to be appropriated by the municipality for payment of such proportionate share. Upon receipt of the statement from the county treasurer disclosing the proportionate share of the cost of any such pension to which the county is entitled to reimbursement by reason of payment of such pension, the governing body of such municipality shall make provision in the annual appropriation or tax levy of such municipality and forward its proportionate share as disclosed by the statement to the county treasurer.
