Any appointment to the police department of a municipality heretofore made of an individual otherwise qualified who on the date of appointment exceeded the maximum age for appointment by less than 10 months, after the allowance of credit for his military service in time of war, is hereby validated and confirmed and the continued employment of such person as a member of the police department is authorized, provided said appointment is confirmed by resolution of the governing body adopted within 30 days after the effective date of this act. 1
