The widower, whether alien or not, of a person dying intestate or otherwise, shall be endowed, for the term of his natural life, of the 1 full and equal half part of all real estate whereof his wife, or another to her use, was seized of an estate of inheritance at any time during coverture, whether issue be born or not, to which he shall not have relinquished or released his right of curtesy by deed duly executed and acknowledged in the manner provided by law for deeds to be recorded. The right of curtesy shall be enforced, admeasured and determined in the same manner and subject to the same limitations and restrictions as is provided by law in case of dower.
