New Jersey Statutes Appendix - Former Title 3A Administration of Estates Decedents and Others 3A § 30-4

When an incompetent ward for whom a guardian has been appointed becomes entitled to personal property amounting to not more than $2500 from any source other than the United States government, the court to which the guardian is accountable may authorize him to receive the personal property for conservation and administrative care. On payment of any money or delivery of property to the guardian, a release executed by him to the person or persons paying or delivering the same shall be valid and effective.
