New Jersey Statutes Appendix - Former Title 3A Administration of Estates Decedents and Others 3A § 14A-7

(a) any profit or loss arising from the sale, exchange, redemption, maturity or other disposition of securities held in an estate, shall enure to or fall upon principal, regardless whether the cost of acquisition of such securities by the fiduciary is in excess of or less than the proceeds of such sale, exchange, redemption, maturity or other disposition; and regardless further, when such securities were acquired by the person establishing the estate, whether such proceeds are in excess of or less than the value, measured by any standard, of such securities at the time they became part of the estate;

(b) when the fiduciary acquires a security at a cost in excess of or less than the par, maturity, or redemption value of such security, or, when a security held in an estate was acquired by the person establishing the estate, and, at the time such estate was established, the value of such security, measured by any standard, was in excess of or less than the par, maturity or redemption value of such security, income shall not be subjected to any charge to amortize such excess, nor shall income be entitled to any credit by way of accumulation on account of such deficiency.
