The court to which a fiduciary is accountable, may, upon representation by him of his belief that a person has possession of personal property of his decedent, ward or trust, or knowledge of the existence or whereabouts thereof, require such person to appear before it and make discovery of his possession of, or knowledge of the existence or whereabouts of personal property of the decedent, ward or trust by the production of books, papers or securities relating to the estate, guardianship or trusteeship, or the examination of such person and other witnesses. The county court may take such proceedings for the recovery of assets so discovered as may be taken in like cases in the superior court.
