1. It shall be lawful for the governing body of any town, township, borough or other municipality, for which commissioners of adjustment have been appointed by the court under the provisions of the act to which this act is a supplement, upon the receipt of a recommendation from such commission, to adopt a resolution authorizing the collector of taxes of such town, township, borough or other municipality to receive in full settlement of the arrears of taxes or assessments remaining of record against any particular piece or parcel of land the sum of money recommended by the aforesaid commissioners of adjustment as the sum which, in their judgment, should in equity and justice be paid on account of the same.
