4. That the officer whose duty it is to make and execute the deeds under the said act and supplements, in describing the land in the deed given pursuant thereto may, in addition to the lot and block numbers, describe the same by metes and bounds, if the same can be ascertained from the assessment map; and every such deed shall be recorded in the office of the clerk or register of the county within which the lands and premises conveyed thereby are situated; that the corporation counsel shall make or have made the necessary searches and serve or have served the necessary notices for all the lands purchased by the city under said act and supplements, and the fees for such searches and notices shall be paid to him by the city treasurer from time to time upon his filing a statement under oath of such fees and notices, and provided the amount for such fees shall be approved by the mayor.
