1. That any land improvement company organized under special charter of this state shall be and is hereby authorized and empowered, from time to time, to purchase, take and hold any other lands in this state in addition to the lands now held or authorized to be held by its charter, and to improve, mortgage, lease, sell and dispose of the same in the same manner as is authorized by the act of incorporation of such company or any supplement thereto; provided, nevertheless, that such company shall not purchase any such additional land by virtue of this act without the written consent of the stockholders representing a majority of the stock of such company for that purpose.
