8. That no such judge, inspector or clerk shall be elected to any office to be filled at the election in which he shall serve except it be to fill the office of judge, inspector or clerk, and if any such judge, inspector or clerk shall be voted for in any such election, except as aforesaid, the person or persons to the number to be elected therein, who shall by law be qualified for the office or offices to be filled upon the election, for whom the greatest number of votes shall have been given therein other than such judge, inspectors or clerk shall be deemed and taken to be elected, and the vote which shall be given to such judge, inspector or clerk shall be deemed and taken to be null and void.
