1. The Port of New York Authority, created by the compact of April thirtieth, one thousand nine hundred and twenty-one, between the states of New York and New Jersey, pursuant to chapter one hundred and fifty-one of the Laws of New Jersey of one thousand nine hundred and twenty-one and chapter one hundred and fifty-four of the Laws of New York of one thousand nine hundred and twenty-one, shall hereafter be the agent of the states of New York and New Jersey in connection with the construction, maintenance and operation of the vehicular tunnel under the Hudson river between the borough of Manhattan, city of New York, and the city of Jersey City, known as the Holland tunnel, which was constructed pursuant to the compact of December thirtieth, one thousand nine hundred and nineteen, between the states of New York and New Jersey. As agent of the two states in connection with the construction, maintenance and operation of said tunnel, the Port of New York Authority shall exercise, succeed to, perform and/or be bound by all the rights, powers, authority, duties and obligations heretofore exercised by, performed by, or binding upon the New Jersey Holland Tunnel Commission, and the New York State Bridge and Tunnel Commission, in so far as they relate to the construction, maintenance and operation of the aforesaid tunnel, as set forth in chapter two hundred and sixty-nine of the Laws of New Jersey of one thousand nine hundred and twenty-nine, chapter forty-nine of the Laws of New Jersey of one thousand nine hundred and eighteen, chapter fifty of the Laws of New Jersey of one thousand nine hundred and eighteen, and the various acts of New Jersey amendatory thereof and supplemental thereto, and chapter two hundred and sixty of the Laws of New York of one thousand nine hundred and six, chapter one hundred and eighty-nine of the Laws of New York of one thousand nine hundred and thirteen, chapter one hundred and seventy-eight of the Laws of New York of one thousand nine hundred and nineteen, and the various acts of New York amendatory thereof and supplemental thereto, and the aforesaid compact of December thirtieth, one thousand nine hundred and nineteen, relating to the construction, maintenance and operation of the aforesaid tunnel.
