1. The state house commission is hereby authorized to sell at public sale the land now owned by the state of New Jersey, and now or formerly occupied by the School for the Deaf, situated at Hamilton and Chestnut avenues, in the city of Trenton, New Jersey, for such price as the state house commission shall deem most advantageous to the state. The state house commission shall reserve the right to reject any and all bids, and the sale shall be advertised for at least four weeks, once in each week, in such papers in this state as shall be determined by the state house commission. The proceeds of the sale of the land shall be paid into the treasury of the state to the credit of the fund created by and under subdivisions one, three and four of section three of an act entitled “An act to revise and amend ‘An act for the taxation of railroad and canal property,’ approved April tenth, one thousand eight hundred and eighty-four,” which act was approved March twenty-seventh, one thousand eight hundred and eighty-eight, and the amendments thereof and supplements thereto, for the maintenance and support of a thorough and efficient system of free public schools.
