1. Seven persons, citizens of this state, to be named by the governor, three of whom shall be members of the Daughters of the American Revolution, shall be and they hereby are constituted a commission to be known as the “Washington Rock Park commission”, with power in it to acquire by deed of gift in the name of the state of New Jersey the land on which “Washington Rock”, in the county of Somerset, is located, together with adjoining lands not to exceed one hundred acres in extent, and to take over, care for, keep, improve, maintain and develop the said lands as a public park in commemoration and appreciation of the importance of the events transacted in said locality during the revolutionary war, which said park shall be known as the “Washington Rock Park”. The said commission shall have full power to make rules and regulations for the use and government of the said park. The governor shall fill all vacancies that may occur by death, resignation or otherwise in that portion of the commission to be appointed by him as aforesaid. The members of the said commission to be appointed by the governor as aforesaid shall hold office during his pleasure. No member of the commission shall receive any compensation for their services. Any four members of the commission shall constitute a quorum thereof for the transaction of business.
