(1) The members of the commission, the manager, the director of finance, the purchasing agent, the director of law, the director of police, and such other officers and employees of the municipality as the commission requires to do so shall, immediately upon taking office, give bonds with such surety as may be approved by the commission; but no officer or employee shall become surety upon the official bond of another officer or employee. Members of the commission shall give bonds in the sum of $5,000 and other officers and employees shall give bonds in such amounts as the commission may require. The premium on all official bonds shall be paid by the municipality.
(2) All such bonds, except those of the manager and the director of finance, shall be filed with the director of finance. The official bonds of the manager and the director of finance shall be filed with and kept by the director of the department of law.
