Any person violating sections 266.361 to 266.400 shall be guilty of a misdemeanor, and upon conviction shall be fined not more than five hundred dollars or imprisoned for not more than one year, or be subject to both such fine and imprisonment. It shall be the duty of any prosecuting attorney to whom any violation of sections 266.361 to 266.400 is reported, to cause appropriate proceedings to be instituted and prosecuted in a court of competent jurisdiction without delay.
