Missouri Revised Statutes Title VI. County, Township and Political Subdivision Government § 47.090. May purchase land

The commissioners, or a majority of them, may purchase not less than fifty nor more than one hundred and sixty acres of land, and may receive as a donation such parcels of land or town lots, including the place selected as a seat of justice for said county, as they shall judge most expedient.
