Any person lawfully occupying real property who is displaced therefrom and caused to move as a result of a taking of such property by eminent domain, shall be paid by the body politic or corporate on behalf of which the taking is made, unless other provision is made by law, the reasonable and necessary expenses incurred by him, as determined by said body, in moving his personal property to another location within the commonwealth, but in no event more than the amounts permitted by the provisions of chapter seventy-nine A. Moving expense payments granted under the provisions of this section shall not be subject to attachment by trustee process or otherwise, nor shall they be subject to be taken on execution or other process.
