Massachusetts General Laws Part I. Administration of the Government (Ch. 1-182) Ch. 6A, § 108

The secretary of veterans' services shall appoint and may remove a deputy secretary of veterans' services who shall devote their full-time during business hours to the duties of their office. The deputy secretary shall be subject to the direction and control of the secretary. The deputy secretary shall perform the duties of the secretary during the secretary's absence on account of disability or other reason.
