The selectmen of towns bordering on another state, if the lines between the state  1 have been established, shall once in every five years locate the boundary markers in such lines, mark them in accordance with the provisions of section two and give notice thereof to the selectmen or other proper officer of contiguous towns in the other state. No bound erected by the commonwealth and an adjoining state shall be removed by such selectmen or other officers.
