The governor shall appoint an advisory council on continuing education, consisting of seventeen members, three representatives of the public, five licensed practical nurses, three registered nurses with a baccalaureate degree or higher, three registered nurses with an associate degree, and three registered nurses with a diploma in nursing. Of the original appointments to the council, six members shall be appointed for a term of one year, six members shall be appointed for a term of two years, and five members shall be appointed for a term of three years. As the term of office of a member expires, his successor shall be appointed for a term of two years. Said council shall assist the board in evaluating the effects of procedures and requirements for continuing education and periodically recommend revisions to the board. No member shall be appointed for more than two successive terms.
