Any city or township may, by a majority vote of the electors voting on the proposition at any regular election, or special election called for the purpose as other special elections are called and held, authorize and direct its governing body, or its township board, to accept such management and control of the business and property of such association or company: Provided, The city or township shall not be held liable for the debts and other obligations, existing or thereafter created, of such cemetery association or company.
