§ 5-11. Original Assessments--View of Land--Organization of Jury. When a request for a view of the land by the jury has been made in writing by any interested party prior to the commencement of the trial before the jury, and has not been withdrawn, then the jury shall, in charge of the bailiff, or other officer of the court, and at such time as the court may direct, examine the lands and other property to be affected by the proposed work, and in arriving at their verdict they shall consider their view of the premises with the other proper evidence in the case. After the jury has heard the evidence and arguments and been instructed as to the law, they shall retire, select a foreman and a clerk from their number, and proceed to deliberate upon their verdict.
