§ 5.17. He or his assistant shall, at lease once a week, examine the escapement shaft and the roadways leading thereto and all other openings for the safe exit of men to the surface; and shall make a record of any obstructions or other unsafe conditions existing therein, and cause the same to be promptly removed.
