1. Consultants employed by the director and paid from the fund created by section 8.41 from moneys received from Pub.L. No. 97-35, Tit. V, subtit. D, ch. 2, 1 shall assist those employees designated by the department as school improvement specialists in helping school districts to participate in school improvement activities identified as a result of the accreditation process conducted pursuant to section 256.11. The department shall assign consultants to assist school districts that the department determines are most in need of participation in school improvement activities.
2. For the purpose of this section, “school improvement specialist” means a consultant employed by the department who is responsible for the accreditation of school districts under section 256.11.
