Iowa Code Title IV. Public Health [Chs. 123-158] § 123.13. Prohibitions on commission members and employees

1. Commission members, officers, and employees of the department under this chapter shall not, while holding such office or position, do any of the following:

Except as provided in section 123.5, subsection 3, a commission member or department employee under this chapter shall not, directly or indirectly, individually, or as a member of a partnership or shareholder in a corporation, have any interest in dealing in or in the manufacture of alcoholic liquor, wine, or beer, and shall not receive any kind of profit nor have any interest in the purchase or sale of alcoholic liquor, wine, or beer by persons so authorized under this chapter. However, this subsection does not prohibit any member or employee from lawfully purchasing and keeping alcoholic liquor, wine, or beer in the member's or employee's possession for personal use.

3. Any officer or employee violating this section or any other provisions of this chapter shall, in addition to any other penalties provided by law, be subject to suspension or discharge from employment. Any commission member shall, in addition to any other penalties provided by law, be subject to removal from office as provided by chapter 66.
