Iowa Code Title I. State Sovereignty and Management [Chs. 1-38D] § 9B.8. Authority to refuse to perform notarial act

1. A notarial officer may refuse to perform a notarial act if the notarial officer is not satisfied that any of the following apply:

2. A notarial officer may refuse to perform a notarial act unless refusal is prohibited by law other than this chapter.

A notarial officer shall not condition the performing of notarial services upon the requirement that the person served be a customer or client of the establishment by which the notarial officer is employed. The employer of a notary public shall not condition the performing of a notarial service upon the requirement that the person served be a customer or client of the establishment by which the notary public is employed.
