The Comptroller shall deduct from the salary of each state employee who is covered under Social Security, and the state shall contribute, the amount required of each under the federal Insurance Contributions Act. 1 The Comptroller shall verify them in accordance with applicable federal regulations and shall forward such contributions to a financial institution qualified as a depositary for federal taxes or to the federal reserve bank.
