(a) For the purposes of this section, “appointee or nominee” means a person appointed or nominated as a department head, as defined in section 4-5, or as Chief Justice or a judge of the Supreme Court, Appellate Court or Superior Court.
(b) The Governor may, subject to the provisions of this chapter or chapter 16, 1 as applicable, require each appointee or nominee to be fingerprinted and submit to state and national criminal history records checks conducted in accordance with section 29-17a.
