Arizona Revised Statutes Title 16. Elections and Electors § 16-412. Effective date of new precincts

A. After establishing precincts as provided in § 16-411, the board of supervisors of each county shall deliver to the county recorder a complete description of these precincts immediately after adoption.

B. If new precinct boundaries are established as provided in § 16-411, the county recorder shall transfer all the voters who reside in a new precinct as the result of this adoption by January 2 of the year of the next general election. The county recorder shall mail the notice of the precinct change to each household containing a registered voter, unless a sample ballot containing the precinct name or number is mailed before the primary election. For the purpose of conducting any election called pursuant to the laws of this state, precincts adopted on or before October 1 of the year preceding the year of a general election under the provisions of § 16-411 become effective not later than January 2 of the year of the next general election.

C. If redistricting requires adjustment of precinct boundaries after October 1 of the year preceding the year of a general election, the county recorder shall transfer to the new precinct within sixty days after adoption of the new precinct boundaries all voters who reside in a new precinct as the result of the adjustment of precinct boundaries. The county recorder shall mail the notice of the precinct change to each household containing a registered voter unless a sample ballot containing the precinct name or number is mailed before the primary election. For the purpose of conducting any election called pursuant to the laws of this state, precincts adopted after October 1 of the year preceding the year of a general election become effective not later than the first date for filing of nomination petitions in the year of the next general election.
