Washington Revised Code Title 70. Public Health and Safety § 70.48.230. Transportation and temporary confinement of prisoners

The jurisdiction having immediate authority over a prisoner is responsible for the transportation expenses.  The transporting officer shall have custody of the prisoner within any Washington county while being transported.  Any jail within the state may be used for the temporary confinement of the prisoner with the only charge being for the reasonable cost of board.

Wherever any notice or other communication is required by any law to be mailed by registered mail to or by the state, or any officer or agency thereof, the mailing of such notice or other communication by certified mail or any other means of physical delivery that provides a receipt shall be deemed to be a sufficient compliance with the requirements of such law.
