For any of the foregoing purposes said Village may take, use, or occupy the land of individuals and corporations on making compensation for the taking, and the trustees in the taking of land and in the awarding of damages shall proceed in the manner prescribed by law for selectboards in the taking of land for public highways and in the awarding of damages. The trustees shall cause to be recorded in the office of the Village Clerk a certificate of their doings which shall be signed by a majority.
