The powers and duties conferred by this chapter on the county judge, members of the commissioners court, the mayor and aldermen or commissioners of cities, the county clerk, and other officers are made a part of the legal duty of those officials. Unless otherwise provided in this chapter, these persons shall exercise and perform these powers and duties without additional compensation.
