(a) Two or more corporations organized under the laws of this state that furnish or are authorized to furnish communication service may, if otherwise permitted to consolidate under state law, consolidate and convert into a telephone cooperative in accordance with this subchapter. On consolidation and conversion, the new cooperative is subject to this chapter as if it had been originally organized under this chapter.
(b) The proposition for the consolidation and conversion and the proposed articles of consolidation and conversion, with any amendments, must be approved by each corporation in accordance with:
(1) the law under which it was organized; and
(2) Sections 162.251 and 162.252.
