(a) A vacancy in the office of director shall be filled by appointment by the governing bodies of the districts and municipalities that are located within the director precinct for which the vacancy occurred. The appointment process shall follow the procedures of Section 8878.056. The board may establish dates different from those specified by Sections 8878.056(e) and (g), but the date for the board's submission of the voting results to each district and municipality may not be later than the 120th day after the date the vacancy occurs.
(b) A vacancy in the office of director appointed by the county under Section 8878.057 shall be filled by appointment by the Commissioners Court of Fort Bend County.
