(a) The board may contract with public or private hospitals, clinics, physicians or other health care providers, political subdivisions of the state, accredited public or private medical schools and their affiliated nonprofit entities or faculty practice plans, allied health education institutions, or state and federal agencies for the district to provide a mobile emergency medical service or other medical, hospital, or health care services needed to provide for the investigatory, welfare, medical, or health care needs of inhabitants of the district.
(b) The board may contract with a person to receive or supply the services the board considers necessary for the effective operation of the district.
