(a) The board may elect to have all or part of the district's taxes assessed and collected by a political subdivision in which any part of the district is located. An election under this subsection must be made by December 1 and governs the manner in which taxes are assessed and collected, until changed by the board.
(b) The tax assessor or collector of the political subdivision shall assess or collect the appropriate district taxes in accordance with the board's election under Subsection (a) and for the compensation agreed on by the board and the governing body of the political subdivision.
