Texas Occupations Code - OCC § 1302.5035. Registration Eligibility Requirements

(a) An applicant for a technician registration under this subchapter must be at least 16 years old.

(b) An applicant for a technician registration is not required to have practical experience or to take an examination to obtain the registration.
