(a) The executive commissioner by rule may require the commission and each health and human services agency that administers a part of Medicaid to provide Medicaid reimbursement for a medical consultation that a physician or other health care professional provides using the Internet as a cost-effective alternative to an in-person consultation.
(b) The executive commissioner may require the commission or a health and human services agency to provide the reimbursement described by this section only if the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services develops an appropriate Current Procedural Terminology code for medical services provided using the Internet. (Gov. Code, Sec. 531.02175(b).)
