The commission shall make every effort to ensure the integrity of Medicaid. To ensure that integrity, the commission shall:
(1) perform risk assessments of every element of the program and audit the program elements determined to present the greatest risks;
(2) ensure that sufficient oversight is in place for the Medicaid medical transportation program and that a quality review assessment of that program occurs; and
(3) evaluate Medicaid with respect to use of the metrics developed through the Texas Health Steps performance improvement plan to guide changes and improvements to the program. (Gov. Code, Sec. 531.02412.)
