(a) Notwithstanding any other law, the department shall preserve all department records, including e-mails, relating to the operation of the state lottery until at least the first anniversary of the last date the record is modified.
(b) The department may not use a software program to automatically delete a record relating to the operation of the state lottery on a date earlier than the last day of the period specified by Subsection (a).
